A note on the Fletcher Christian - out of St Germain tonight, I used maraschino instead, and thought I'd use gin instead of the genever.  At that point, all the ingredients but the celery bitters are things you already know work together.

It's a very good drink with maraschino and gin -- but it's definitely better with St Germain and genever.  What's missing in the gin version (because I think that's the more important substitution) is the maltiness of the genever, which really makes it sing.

But the important thing is: it's now slightly less difficult to come by the ingredients to make the drink (particularly if we consider the Elixir Vegetal to be optional).
